The operation of fixed and transportable items of machinery, plant and equipment within a workplace presents risks to the health and safety of operator’s, workers, pedestrians, members of the public and others. Legislative obligations require that all parties within the procurement supply chain (including employers) undertake a holistic risk management approach to identify and then eliminate or mitigate such risks. This program has been designed to reduce the sometimes complex legal requirements to a useable set of steps that can be taken within
any workplace to review the safety of all items of fixed plant to ensure the safety of this plant and equipment while also ensuring compliance with these laws.
Learning outcomes:
On completion of this program participants will be able to:

  • Explain the legislative obligations for ensuring the safety of fixed and transportable plant & equipment.
  • Understand the risk management approach as applied to fixed and transportable plant & equipment.
  • Undertake actual workplace inspections to apply the hazard identification & risk control principles to plant.
  • Complete the documentation necessary to record the findings of this risk management process.
  • Engage and consult productively with key workplace parties to gather the required information concerning the safe operation of fixed and transportable plant.
